Leave Your Mark

It's been a while since I've written a blog post, December 15, 2017 to be exact. I seriously can't believe it's been 5 months. Time really does fly when you’re making your dreams come true. There are so many fabulous things in the works that I can't wait to share.

Do you ever feel like you are working on so much that you only do a little of each every day and it actually takes longer to complete? That’s my life right now; however I'm loving every step of the journey. I will be committing myself to doing at least 1 blog post a month going forward. Starting a private counseling practice was the best decision I could have ever made. As I think back to several years ago when I was thinking about all the what if's and the financial aspects, something kept tugging at my heart strings. I did not know why I couldn't quite just let it go. I finally came to the decision that I preferred to try and fail than to not try at all.

That was the best decision I could have made. I opened my private practice with a vision to inspire others to love themselves unconditionally. I had the personal and clinical skills to do this but I still had no idea how I make my private counseling business succesful. On July 1st 2016, I opened the doors to Inspiring Radiance, LLC. I didn't know where my clients would come from or how I would share my message with the world, I just knew I had to try. Well my practice has taken quite an evolution from that day. I began as most private practice therapists begin seeing anyone who called and wanted to pay for my services. The first year was what I call a trial period. My prices were well below what I am charging now. One of the things I always pride myself on is providing the best level of care but starting out not all of my clients were my ideal clients. Since then I realized what I knew deep down all along. My ideal clients are women. Women empowerment is in my blood. So I chose to exclusively focus on women's mental health. I have the professional qualifications as I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, EMDR Certified Therapist, and a Qualified Clinical Social Worker Supervisor. The qualifications mean a lot but I've come to realize that it is so much more than just the qualifications. It's more about me, my story, and my passion to serve women. I know what's it’s like to not feel good enough and broken and I know what it is like to truly heal and transform.

My practice isn't just about making money it's about doing the work I am so passionate about. One example of this is that I have chosen to be a provider in the victim's compensation program for the state of Florida. I provide services to women who have been victims of crimes in particular sexual violence/sexual trauma, domestic violence, and human trafficking crimes. I work hard on empowering them to become strong, independent and confident women. As a provider in this program, I take a 44% reduction in my normal session fees, which is actually paid by the state victims compensation fund. I choose to work with this group of women for several reasons. One being this group of women experiences a level of devastation that is difficult to treat. Not all therapists are qualified to do this level of work. As a trauma specialist, I have chosen to work with this group of women not only because it is the right thing to do but because I believe every women has a right to heal. Typically this group of women does not have the money to pay for therapy services leaving them with little to no services. I am committed to helping this group of women receive the best level of care so they can move forward and truly heal.

I am purposed and blessed to be able to help guide and join women on a transformational healing journey. One in which they learn to radically love themselves unconditionally and begin to create a life that they can completely fall in love with. I want every woman to know their worth and live a life they love. It's my vision that we would live in a world were women saw themselves through loving eyes and loved themselves, unconditionally.

My greatest hope is to help as many women as possible to heal, so going big is the only way to go. So as I mentioned earlier, I have quite a few things in the works. I’m putting it out into the universe because it will not only keep me accountable but it will help me manifest all of them into existence. I am currently in the middle of writing my first book. This is a very intimate journey of my personal experiences and how I was able to heal. I am pouring my heart and soul into this book. I am also super excited to announce I will be putting on my first of many woman retreats/workshops on February 16, 2019. I am also currently in the process of creating and developing online webinars focused on teaching the core principles from the S.H.I.N.E. Model, which is a model I created. As I think back on my journey, I am grateful for the lessons that now allow me to be the guide for others to heal. Looking forward to what's to come…
